Visit the scientific haven, Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC). DVFC is located west of Lahad Datu, Sabah's fourth largest town. It is located within Danum Valley Conservation Area which of comprises 43,800 hectares (438 sq km) of virgin forest located within the upper reaches of Sabah's second largest river, the Segama and its tributaries, making it part of the Ulu Segama Forest Reserve.
Garama River located 130km from Kota Kinabalu provides a comfortable wildlife spotting getaway from the usual city attractions. It is one of most convenient locations to spot and observe the endemic Proboscis monkeys amongst other wildlife and local villagers.
Kiulu River, crystal clear mild current river suitable for family fun. You will pass by villages and verdant green jungle forests. Occassionally you will raft by suspension bridges which connects villages to the main road.
Padas River is a large muddy river situated in the interior of southwestern part of Kota Kinabalu that is only accessible by train.
